Pleasantville (N.J.) senior Jacob Clark has been named as the AT&T Athlete of the Week for the boys after breaking the Bishop Loughlin Games' record in the 1,000-meter run, finishing in 2:27.71. The top time in the U.S. this season, that mark is also the 11th-best in Armory history. For good measure, Clark and his Greyhounds took second in the 4x800m relay in 7:58.44, just on the heels of winner Kellenberg. Medgar Evers freshman Shayla Broughton earned the girls' Athlete of the Week in impressive fashion, clearing 5-8 at the Bishop Loughlin Games on Saturday. Also a standout hurdler, Broughton's clearance is a brow-raiser. Olympic silver medalist Brigetta Barrett cleared that same height at the state meet as a sophomore at Roy Ketcham High before twice winning the Texas 5A state title. Her winning heights were 5-9 3/4 and 5-9. What is in store for young Shayla?
