I absolutely love the sport of cross country, even though I was never very good at it. There is nothing in sport that compares to the uncomplicated beauty and unpretentiousness of simply running over natural terrain. If our great ancestors meaning, prehistoric, did sports, I would imagine cross country would have been one of them. I also love cross country because I recognize that it is the foundation, the building block for success as a distance runner.
