Campolindo won its first CIF Division 3 boys state championship with a 47-64 victory over Maria Carrillo at Woodward Park in Fresno. Junior Dylan Gunn covered the 5-kilometer course in 15:33.8 for the Cougars, who rebounded from a 28-53 loss Nov. 23 to Maria Carrillo at the North Coast Section final. Senior Dylan Cronin took ninth in 15:39.1, followed by freshman Alexander Lodewick (15:48.2), senior Cayden Hein (15:52.2) and junior Owen Lekki (15:52.6) placing 16th, 17th and 18th for Campolindo, which had earned five previous podium finishes, including taking second to Bakersfield Ridgeview by an 83-94 margin last season. Sophomore Rhys Pullen finished 27th in 16:03.8 and senior Dylan Mitchley was 102nd in 16:48.7 for Campolindo, which also became the first North Coast Section boys team to capture a Division 3 state title.
