Twenty years ago this week, Andy Powell of Oliver Ames MA and Franklyn Sanchez of Lynn MA staged one of the most memorable high school boys 2-mile races in U.S. prep history. The race seemed to usher in a new age of high school distance running achievement after years of decline.
