Garrett Brown made the drive all the way up from San Diego to compete at the Simplot Games and he won the pole vault with a clearance at 15-11.75. He defeated Logan Hammer of the Stacy Dragila Vault Club (Idaho) by virture of fewer misses at lower heights. Brown, of La Costa Canyon CA, attempted 16-5.50, which would have been a personal best.
