Alaska Anchorage graduate Caroline Kurgat, a seven-time NCAA Division 2 champion and Honda award winner as Division 2 female athlete of the year in 2018, discusses with DyeStat editor Erik Boal her recent move to Missouri and the challenges of working in community nursing during the Coronavirus pandemic. Kurgat reflects on her memorable time at Alaska Anchorage and how she remains motivated with her training during the most unpredictable period in her career. She also shares the experience of watching younger brother Edwin Kurgat, a senior at Iowa State, win the Division 1 cross country title in November, as well as him having the indoor national championships and spring outdoor season canceled by the NCAA in March due to COVID-19. Kurgat also reflects on her selection as the Honda Division 2 winner at the Collegiate Women's Sports Awards as the most significant achievement of her collegiate career.
