At 17, Aly Conyers, who is completing her junior year at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School in South Carolina, joined her brother, Ace, to organize and lead a 2-mile protest march from Howard University to the White House in Washington, D.C. on May 31 in the wake of George Floyd's death at the hands of police officers in Minnesota. The peaceful march drew hundreds of people. Conyers grew up in a military family, which has shaped her outlook on patriotism and protest. She and her brother have organized the group, Faces For The Future. Conyers is also a standout 400-meter runner and hopes to continue her athletes, and activism, in college.
