Westlake CA junior Paige Sommers placed runner-up in the women's advanced section with a second-attempt clearance at 13-3 (4.04m) at the Vaulter Club Vaulter Magazine Nationals Tuneup meet in Sun City, Calif. Sommers missed three attempts at 13-9 (4.19m) to conclude the most successful season by a high school junior vaulter in U.S. prep history. She set California state and national junior class records with her 14-6 (4.42m) effort Feb. 22 at the Thousand Oaks Invitational and achieved three 14-foot clearances during a four-month span, the other two marks June 6 and June 27 at the Vaulter Club facility.
