Kentucky graduate student-athlete Chloe Abbott, a NCAA Division 1 first-team All-American in the 400 meters and 4x400-meter relay for both the Wildcats and Purdue during her career in addition to being a two-time NACAC U-23 medalist for the United States, joins DyeStat editor Erik Boal to discuss the release of her first single and music video for "Dinner Table Talks" in early December. Abbott shares the details of writing and recording her own music with producer Max Landry and how she wanted to showcase the importance of reconnecting with family during the holidays and creating a positive message with her first release. She also revisits the experience of filming her first music video with director Darren Brown and how significant it was to be able to use the house of her Northville High track coach Eugene Thomas as the setting. Abbott reflects on the support and affirmation she has received from family, friends, teammates and coaches about the single and how inspired she is to continue to record and produce more content with Landry, along with sharing her next release and video about the themes of self-love and self-worth in early 2021. She also shares what makes enjoyable and significant holiday music, along with the importance of creating her own identity and style, both musically and as an aspiring model through her own Chlovada Website and many social media platforms, including YouTube, Instagram and Twitter. Abbott, who majored in theater and earned a minor in vocal performance at Kentucky, continues to pursue a Masters degree in arts administration, along with balancing her music and athletic careers. She examines the return to fall training with her Kentucky teammates, along with coaches Lonnie Greene and Tim Hall, and the preparation for the upcoming indoor season. Abbott also explores long-term goals, both with the Wildcats and their quest to break the collegiate 4x400 relay records, along with competing at the U.S. Olympic Trials in June and her aspirations to compete in Tokyo in the 400 or as part of the American 4x400 relay pool.
