Sydney Sundgren, Elle Lomeli, Stefania Sesock, Caroline Mendyk, Sierra Cornett, Kaylee Elliott and Grace Hutchison helped Buchanan repeat as Division 1 girls champions at the California state meet at Woodward Park in Fresno. The Bears had five scorers in the top 25 to prevail by a 51-72 margin over Newbury Park. Buchanan secured its third state overall, including a Division 2 victory in 1994. Sundgren took third in 17:30.4 and Lomeli earned eighth in 17:54 for Buchanan.
