Five-time Olympian Nick Willis joins DyeStat editor Doug Binder to discuss the New Year's Eve Midnight Mile Gala at The Armory in New York City on Dec. 31. The event is a fund-raiser for the Tracksmith Foundation, which seeks to address issues of diversity and inclusivity in the sport with an emphasis on assisting Russell Dinkins' efforts to protect collegiate track teams. After the stroke of midnight, Willis will aim to break four minutes in the mile for the 20th year in a row. He already holds the world record at 19 consecutive years with a sub-four. The evening will include community races and some marquee events, concluding with Willis' attempt. The entire meet is wrapped into a New Year's eve celebration. Willis, who represents his home country of New Zealand when he competes internationally, is a member of the Very Nice Track Club based in Ann Arbor, Mich. and is coached by former Michgan head coach Ron Warhurst.
