Doug Soles, head cross country coach at Herriman High in Utah, discusses the top-ranked Mustangs competing in the 42nd Woodbridge Cross Country Classic presented by ASICS America and seeking a repeat in the Doug Speck boys sweepstakes race Sept. 16 at Orange County Great Park in Irvine, Calif. Herriman prevailed last year by a 117-139 margin against Crater High from Oregon, giving Soles five career Woodbridge boys sweepstakes championships, including in 2014-15 and 2017-18 at Great Oak High in California. The Mustangs are scheduled to run Jack Beckstrom, Max Hofheins, Tayshaun Ogomo, Jonah Tang, Micah Tang, Hyrum Wood and William Steadman in a field that features eight nationally ranked programs. The top five teams from last year's sweepstakes race are all expected to return. Herriman is looking to become the first boys program outside of California to win consecutive Woodbridge sweepstakes titles. The Mustangs are also entered in the Bob Day girls sweepstakes race.
