Jack Turner, a senior at Arkansas representing Great Britain, won the men's decathlon title with 7,935 points to elevate to No. 4 all-time for the Razorbacks at the Southeastern Conference Championships at James G. Pressly Stadium in Gainesville, Fla. Turner became the first Arkansas winner since Kevin Lazas in 2012. He and fellow Arkansas senior Yariel Soto Torrado became the first teammates since 2014 to secure the top two spots in the decathlon at the conference final. It was also the second time the Razorbacks have earned gold and silver in the same year in the decathlon, including 2012, when Arkansas took the top three spots. Turner ran the fastest 400 meters in conference championship history by clocking 47.35, eclipsing the 47.44 effort by Tennessee's Matt Shelton in 1992.
