Sam Worley makes collegiate debut for Texas and Destiny Collins wins her second race of the season at Texas InvitationalBy Adam Kopet Sam Worley made his collegiate debut Thursday for Texas. The Longhorns freshman finished third at the Texas Invitational, running 18:32 for 6 kilometers, according to Cat Vasquez of the Austin American Statesman. Worley, a 2017 graduate of Canyon TX, finished second at Nike Cross Nationals and ninth at the Foot Locker National Championships last year. In track, Worley went undefeated, including a 4:00.61 mile win against college and professional competition. Texas sophomore Destiny Collins won the women's 4-kilometer race, running 13:43. This was her second win of the season, including a Sept. 1 victory at the Aggie Invitational. Collins, a 2016 Great Oak CA graduate, won the 2015 CIF State Division 1 Cross Country Championships. She also won the 2015 California State Championship 3,200 meters in 9:53.79 as a junior. More news |
