Katelyn Tuohy, F-M girls produce record performances at Manhattan InvitationalPublished by
Tuohy smashes VCP course record with 13:21.8 By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Katelyn Tuohy smashed the girls record at the HOKA One One Manhattan Invitational by 32 seconds Saturday on the 2.5-mile course at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The sophomore from North Rockland NY ran 13 minutes, 21.8 seconds and won the Varsity C race by 95 seconds. She broke Jessica Lawson's 2015 record of 13:53.9. How good was that run? It would have placed 48th in the Boys Eastern States Championship. "I felt good," Tuohy said. "I actually think I could have run a little bit faster. Coming over the bridge (in the second part of the race), I conserved some energy because there's still 600 meters left. It's a little deceptive." Top-ranked Fayetteville-Manlius NY went 1-2-3 in the Girls Eastern States Championship and tied the meet record with 22 points. F-M also scored 22 points in 2009 and that was one of the school's greatest teams. Christian Brothers Academy NJ won the Boys Eastern States title with 136 points. Fayetteville-Manlius was second with 149 points. Green Hope NC was third with 180. Mason Gatewood from St. Anthony's NY was the top finisher, completing the circuit in 12:17.4. More news |
