Abbey Cooper to Run First Track Race Since 2016 Olympic 5,000 Meters at Camel City Invitational

By Adam Kopet

Abbey Cooper (formerly D'Agostino) has been announced as a participant in the elite mile at the 2019 Camel City Invitational.

This will be Cooper's first race on the track following the tearing of her ACL in the 5,000-meter heats at the 2016 Olympics.

Cooper's return to racing has not been easy. Before winning the Johnson City Turkey Trot in Johnson City, Tenn. last week, Cooper had not raced since Nov. 2017. She won the Thanksgiving Day race, running 16:58 for 5K.

Joining Cooper in the elite mile at the Camel City Invitational are Charlene Lipsey and Angel Piccirillo.
