Konstanze Klosterhalfen Splits with German Coach and Moves to PortlandBy Adam Kopet Konstanze Klosterhalfen has split with her coach in Germany and will now train in Portland, Oregon, according to Berthold Mertes of the General-Anzeiger (article in German). Klosterhalfen, 21, has seen early success as a middle-distance runner. She qualified for the 2016 Olympics in the 1,500 meters, reaching the semifinals at age 19. Last year, she finished second in the 1,500 at the European Athletics Indoor Championships and qualified for the semifinals in the 1,500 at the IAAF World Outdoor Championships. This year, Klosterhalfen has finished seventh in the 3,000 meters at the IAAF World Indoor Championships. She also finished fourth in the 5,000 meters at the European Athletics Outdoor Championships. Klosterhalfen owns personal bests of 1:59.65 in the 800 meters, 3:58.92 in th 1,500, 8:29.89 in the 3,000 and 14:51.38 in the 5,000. In Portland, Klosterhalfen will train under Pete Julian, a coach for the Nike Oregon Project. However, Klosterhalfen will reportedly not officially join the Oregon Project. More news |
