Katelyn Tuohy moved to No. 6 all-time on the indoor mile list Wednesday as she won the invitational girls event at the NYRR Millrose Games Trials in 4:39.15.

Tuohy, the two-time national cross country runner of the year, ran her first mile of the season at The Armory in New York City with an even effort and earned an indoor personal best by more than four seconds. RESULTS

She was clocked en route in 4:19.72 for 1,500 meters -- fourth-fastest all-time.

The win ensured Tuohy a spot on the starting line of the high school girls mile Feb. 9 at the NYRR Millrose Games at The Armory. Unofficially, Tuohy ran steady 400-meter splits of 69-71-69-70.

"The plan going in was to hit consistent splits," Tuohy told The Armory's Ian Brooks. "I wanted to run 35 (seconds) each lap and work on my kick."

Tuohy, a junior at North Rockland NY, suffered a rare disappointment on the track last year when she finished fourth at the NYRR Millrose Games. She went on to break the national high school record in the outdoor mile, going 4:33.87 at New Balance Nationals Outdoor in June.

Tuohy is due to race professionals for the first time Jan. 26 at the Dr. Sander Invitational Columbia Challenge over a distance of 3,000 meters. She is hoping to lock down a qualifying time for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

Second-place finisher Sarah Trainor of Franklin D. Roosevelt NY ran 4:52.65 for US#3 this season. Trainor was also extended an invitation to the NYRR Millrose Games by meet officials.

Tim McInerney, a senior at Christian Brothers Academy NJ, dominated the second half of the boys invitational mile and ran 4:16.01, good for US#2 this season. McInerney is headed to Georgetown next fall. His 1,500 meter en route time was 4:00.22. William Baginski of Ridgewood NJ ran 4:16.87 (4:00.61 1,500) for second.

South Shore NY's Brandon Smith, a junior, won the boys 55-meter dash in 6.38 seconds, good for US#3.

Christopher Columbus NY logged the first sub-3:20 time of the season in the 4x400 relay, going 3:18.82 in the PSAL section of the event.

The Union Catholic NJ girls ran a US#1 time of 3:50.93 to lock down an NYRR Millrose Games berth. Paul Robeson NY, likewise, ran US#2 3:53.85 and was second-fastest on the day.
