Boston Marathon Weather Report and More

By Adam Kopet

The 123rd Boston Marathon is Monday and elite athletes from around the world have descended on Boston.

Monday's weather report has changed significantly over the past several days. Rain is still expected, but warm temperatures have replaced the cool temperatures originally predicted. Weather.com is forecasting a low of 42 degrees and a high of 70 degrees. Winds out of the southwest will mean the runners will have a tailwind for much of the race. There is also a chance of morning thunderstorms.

Even two days away, Monday's weather in Boston could change. Rain seems to be a relative constant in the forecast, but temperatures and winds could vary.

There have been two changes to the field in the final days. Zersenay Tadese of Eritrea had been reported earlier as a scratch, but he will race. However, his arrival was delayed until Saturday due to visa issues. Fellow Eritrean Ghirmay Ghebreslassie has withdrawn due to illness.

Sean Hartnett for Track and Field News analyzed the Boston Marathon course and has selected the 10 most important hills to consider in the race. Heartbreak Hill is not No. 1 on the list.
