Tirunesh Dibaba Missing London Marathon Due to PregnancyBy Adam Kopet It was announced Tuesday that Tirunesh Dibaba of Ethiopia had withdrawn from the London Marathon due to personal reasons. Friday, Dibaba took to social media to announce she is pregnant.
Dibaba, 33, is married to two-time Olympic silver medalist Sileshi Sihine. This will be the couple's second child. Dibaba is expected to miss all of 2019. After a standout career on the track that saw her win 12 Olympic and World Championships medals going back to 2003, Dibaba has moved to the roads where she is the fifth fastest woman ever in the marathon, having run 2:17:56 at the 2017 London Marathon.
