Here are summaries of the boys regional finals (national Final Four):

WEST REGIONAL FINAL

Hopkins MN 69, Clovis North CA 67

Hopkins of Minnestota was not on the national radar in 2018, but the program experienced a transcendant season in 2019, led by Florida-bound sprinter Joe Fahnbulleh. The California state champions, also in the national dual meet championship for the first time, counter with a multi-talented star in junior Caleb Foster. It speaks to the quality of Hopkins, and Minnesota in general, to be able to compete with California's best despite a much shorter season. Clovis North began the season Feb. 22. Hopkins' first meet was April 6.  Both of these teams offer depth throughout the gamut of track and field and a theoretical matchup between these two teams goes down the wire almost any way you slice it. With Foster confined to four events (110 hurdles, triple jump, 4x100 and 4x400), Hopkins wins the long jump and the dual meet. We didn't score the 4x200, but Hopkins would have won that too. Yakob Ekoue of Hopkins made a key contribution with wins in the shot put and discus throw. Hopkins also pounced on a rare Clovis North weakness and swept the high jump. The Broncos made up for it with 13-3 pole vaulters Elijah Martorana and Cyprus Price eding Hopkins sophomore JT Zell (13-2). At events from 800 to 3,200, Clovis North's Isaiah Galindo won two events and finished second in the 1,600. Hopkins' Eli Hoeft won the 1,600 and finished second in the other two. The closeness of this matchup is also told by a high quality 4x100 relay. Clovis North won it, 41.15 to 41.23. Ultimately, Hopkins had just a little bit more and moves into the national finals.

EAST REGIONAL FINAL

Hoover AL 85, Christian Brothers Academy NJ 65

Earlier this spring, Hoover coach Devon Hind was asked to consider his team's overall strength and the possibility that it could return to the winner's circle of this year's DyeStat dual meet championship. “I don’t know if we’ll be quite as strong,” the coach said. “We’re strong in some events. We had a 16-foot pole vaulter last year, and (this year), we have three guys over 13, so we have some depth there. I don’t know. It’s going to be very interesting. The distances are weak, but the sprints are better this year.” And yet, after scoring more than 100 points to reclaim the Alabama 7A team title, Hoover has demonstrated the depth to return to the national finals. In a matchup with New Jersey's all-boys Catholic powerhouse, Hoover swept the pole vault, long jump and triple jump to break open a close matchup. CBA was strong where Hoover was weak, and vice versa. The Colts dominated the distance events, led by Tim McInerney, and the throws, led by 57-foot shot putters Nicholas Morse and Eros Bottino. CBA's dominance from 800 and above was wiped out by Hoover’s superior sprinting from 100 through 400. Liam O'Hara of CBA helped offset Hoover's depth in the hurdles. Hoover won the 4x100 and 4x400, and CBA got five points back with a win in the 4x800. Because New Jersey and Alabama both offer the javelin, that event was contested as well. CBA's Chris Arias and Liam Miksic went 1-3 for six points.
