Robert Keter Breaks Road 5K World Record in FrancePublished by
Robert Keter Runs Surprise World RecordBy Adam Kopet The IAAF reports Kenya's Robert Keter broke the road 5K world record Saturday in Lille, France. Keter pulled away from the pack in the final kilometer to win the Urban Trail Lille 5km in 13:22. It was Keter's first 5K road race. The previous world record was held by Julien Wanders of Switzerland and Edward Cheserek of Kenya at 13:29. Finishing behind Keter were Gilbert Kwemoi, Stanley Waithaka and Davis Kiplangat. All three were timed in 13:28, also breaking the previous record. Kenya's Mercy Jerop, 17, won the women's race in 16:21. More news |
