Beavercreek OH senior Taylor Ewert eclipsed her own national high school and American U-20 records in the girls indoor 3,000-meter race walk Friday at the Virginia Showcase at Liberty University in Lynchburg.

Ewert clocked 13 minutes, 0.56 seconds to smash last year’s effort of 13:24.76 at the same meet.

Ewert, an Arkansas signee, elevated to No. 7 in the world this indoor season.

She also ascended to the No. 10 all-time American performer and improved to the No. 19 athlete in World U-20 indoor history.

Athing Mu, a senior representing Trenton Track Club, also ran the fastest time in history by a prep athlete in the AAU girls 500 meters, clocking 1:10.22. Kayla Davis, a sophomore representing Run U XPress from North Carolina, finished second in 1:12.28.

Mu, who produced the second-fastest time in the world this indoor season, lowered the 2008 high school mark of 1:10.30 set by former Easton Area PA talent Chanelle Price.

Mu, a Texas A&M signee, improved to the No. 3 athlete in American U-20 history and fourth all-time among World U-20 performers.

She also ascended to the No. 26 all-time American performer in the indoor event. Mu is already the American record holder in the indoor 600 meters, running 1:23.57 at last year’s USATF Indoor Championships in New York.

Mu also held off Davis by a 37.36 to 37.38 margin in the AAU girls 300 meters. Mu elevated to the No. 3 all-time prep performer, with Davis lowering her personal best to rank as the fourth-fastest prep athlete in history.

Cameron Rose of Hickory Ridge NC edged Justin Robinson of Hazelwood West MO by a 32.84 to 32.87 margin in the AAU boys 300 meters.

Rose, a Virginia Tech signee, equaled the U.S. No. 2 all-time prep performer, and the Arizona State-bound Robinson matched the No. 4 prep performer in history.

Robinson won the AAU boys 500 in 1:02.39, elevating to the No. 5 high school performer in history.

Morgan Smalls of Panther Creek NC won the girls triple jump with a leap of 42-10 (13.05m), elevating to the U.S. No. 8 all-time high school indoor performer. Smalls, a USC signee, also won the New Balance Invitational 200 meters in 24.46, along with clearing 6 feet (1.82m) to prevail in the high jump.

Bullis School MD ran a nation-leading 3:44.15 in the girls 4x400 relay, with Science Hill TN sophomore Jenna Hutchins prevailing in the girls mile in 4:57.16, the sixth-fastest effort in the country this season.
