Miller Runs Nation's Top Time So Far In the 800 Meters By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Brandon Miller of Ultimate Speed Academy (John Burroughs MO) re-established himself as the national leader in the 800 meters Saturday at the Music City Indoor Invitational in Nashville, Tenn. Miller, who ran sub-1:50 as a sophomore and won the 2018 Brooks PR meet, lost most of his 2019 season due to a hamsting injury. But on Saturday, the Texas A&M recruit blew away the field to win the 800 in 1:52.10 on the Vanderbilt University track for a new US#1 time. He also ran a leg on his team's winning 4x400 relay (3:19.10), good for US#2. The Brentwood Track Club girls (Brentwood TN) crushed the field in the distance medley relay by almost a minute, clocking 11:53.05, for another US#1 and meet record. Beth Donnelly anchored the team and also won the girls seeded mile with a time of 4:54.74. In the boys 60-meter hurdles, Brevin Sims of the D-Elite Track Club (Arts and Sciences TN) lowered his own US#1 time by clocking 7.81 seconds in both the prelims and finals. The time was also a meet record. Kimberly Harris of Jackrabbit TC (Buford GA), the New Balance Nationals Indoor reigning champion in the 400 meters, won the 200 in a time of 24.27 seconds. Myles Collins (unattached) of Georgia's Archer High swept the boys mile (US#4 4:13.73) and 2-mile (9:16.05) by running personal bests in both events. Synclair Savage (unattached) from North Cobb Christian GA jumped US#5 19-3.50 to take the girls long jump. More news |
