Elle Purrier gave an indication of her summer fitness Friday with a 4:01 time trial in the 1,500 meters.

She validated her speed Monday with a lifetime-best performance in the 800 meters at the Track is Back Summer Meet No. 3, hosted by Hartbeat Track Club at Hall High in West Hartford, Conn.

Purrier, representing Team New Balance Boston, clocked 2:00.70 to elevate to the No. 5 outdoor performer in the world this year, an improvement of nearly three seconds from her previous best last year.

Heather MacLean (2:01.40) and Siofra Cleirigh-Buttner (2:02.77), both Team New Balance Boston members, took second and third. Saucony professional Skylyn Webb, a former NCAA Division 2 national champion at University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, placed fourth in 2:03.89.

It marked the first outdoor personal best of the year for Purrier, who achieved three lifetime bests indoors, including the American mile record Feb. 8 by running 4:16.85 at the NYRR Millrose Games.

In the men’s 800, HOKA ONE ONE New Jersey New York Track Club dominated the race, with Colby Alexander prevailing in 1:47.50, the fastest time this year by an American and equaling the No. 17 outdoor performer in the world.

Sam Ellison, representing BAA Running Club, took second in 1:47.68. Rob Napolitano (1:47.79), Johnny Gregorek (1:47.96) and Jeremy Hernandez (1:48.55), all representing HOKA ONE ONE NYNJ Track Club, were third, fourth and fifth.

Kipyego became the third prep athlete to break 1:49 this year, joining John Lester of Amador Valley, Calif. (1:48.26) and Washington signee Cruz Culpepper (1:48.50), a graduate of Niwot High in Colorado.

Sophia Gorriaran, a rising sophomore at Moses Brown, R.I., ran a personal-best 4:33.06 to win the women’s 1,500, holding off a late surge by La Salle Academy rising senior Kaylie Armitage (4:33.52). Cornell graduate Briar Brumley, representing Central Park Track Club, took third in 4:35.34.
