Nageotte becomes third American and sixth ever to clear 16-1.75 (4.92m) with first-attempt success at American Track League event at Life University after Sweden's Meijer matched her season best earlier in the day at 15-10 (4.83m)

Katie Nageotte's progress in 2020 can't be contained by the pandemic.

Vaulting at the American Track League meet Saturday at Life University in Marietta, Ga., Nageotte added a centimeter to her PR, moved to No.3 in U.S. history and sixth all-time in the world with a first-attempt clearance at 16 feet, 1.75 inches (4.92m).

Nageotte then moved the bar up to 16-5.25 (5.01m) and took three attempts at the American record, which is held by Sandi Morris at 16-4.75 (5.00m). The only other American to clear a bar higher than 4.92m is 2012 Olympic champion Jenn Suhr, who has an outdoor personal best of 16-2 (4.93m).

Nageotte's clearance Saturday is also the best in the world so far in 2020. She held the mark at 15-10 (4.83m), before Michaela Meijer of Sweden matched that mark Saturday at a meet in Norrkoping.

But after first-attempt clearances at 15-1 (4.60m) and 15-7 (4.75m), Nageotte ended the day back in sole possession of the world lead, surpassing her indoor personal best of 16-1.25 (4.91m) from the 2018 USATF Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M.

Elsewhere in the meet, Gabby Thomas edged Kyra Jefferson in the 200 meters, winning in 22.89 seconds to 22.90. Morolake Akinosun was third in 23.41.

Courtney Okolo won the women's 400 meters in 51.52 seconds and beat Jessica Beard, who was second in 51.71.

Stevie Gardiner of the Bahamas, the world champ in the 400 meters, won the 200 in 20.19.

Murielle Ahoure won a competitive women's 100 meters in 11.36 seconds that was pointed into a slight headwind. Teen star Tamari Davis was second in 11.42 seconds, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn was third in 11.51 and Tianna Bartoletta was fourth in 11.74.
