Ethan Coleman Runs 8:49.57 To Lead Three Under 9 Minutes In Olympia By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Juniors Ethan Coleman of Olympia, Evan Jenkins of Camas and Isaac Teeples of Kamiakin all ran under nine minutes Wednesday in one of the best prep races in the state of Washington in more than a year. All three ran unattached in order to contest an invitational 3,200 meters that pulled athletes from the Puget Sound area, eastern Washington and Oregon. Coleman ran 8:49.57 and Jenkins was second in 8:50.77 as both surpassed the Washington junior class record of Joe Hardy (8:51.01 from the 2013 Arcadia Invitational). ETHAN COLEMAN PRE-RACE INTERVIEW Teeples ran 8:58.74 for third place. Coleman's time is No. 7 in Washington state history. Jenkins moves up to No. 10. An additional eight runners ran faster than 9:10, including sophomore Zack Munson of Sehome, who was fourth in 9:00.06. Munson's time moves him to No. 4 on the all-time state sophomore list. Jesuit OR senior Jack Bennett was fifth in 9:02.75 and another sophomore, Blanchet Catholic WA's William Schneider, was sixth in 9:03.45. In the girls race, Summit OR sophomore Barrett Justema ran 11:08.02 for the win. Teammate Payton McCarthy was second in 11:16.83. More news |
