Loaded High School Fields Coming Together For Millrose GamesPublished by
Millrose High School Events Shaping Up To Be Top Tier By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor The New Balance Boys and Girls Miles, always a highlight at Millrose, are comprised of national caliber talent and are part of loaded high school fields going to New York to compete in loaded fields at the 114th Millrose Games at The Armory. There is record-breaking potential in a girls race that features eight Eastbay Cross Country Championships qualifiers, led by fourth-place finisher Karrie Baloga of Corwall NY, fifth-place finisher Riley Stewart of Cherry Creek CO and sixth-place finisher Kate Peters of Lake Oswego OR. Four national cross country finalists are also in the boys race, led by Gavin Sherry of Conard CT, whose mile time of 4:06.72 at the U.S. Air Force Hispanic Games on Jan. 8 is superior to the Millrose meet record (4:07.24). Gavin's twin brother, Callum Sherry, Union Catholic NJ's Shane Brosnan, Angola IN's Izaiah Steury and Fordham Prep NY's Myles Hogan are also on the entry list. A brother and sister tandem from Illinois, Ava Parekh and Akili Parekh of Chicago Latin, will compete in the miles. WEBCAST INFO | ARMORYTRACK | MILLROSEGAMES.ORG Will Sumner of Woodstock GA, who ran an electrifying national high school record in the 500 meters last weekend at the Virginia Showcase, is a potential headliner in the 600 meters. (Edit 1/26: Sumner is not on the entry list). Carter Cukerstein of Shenendehowa NY, who recently shattered a New York Section 2 record with 6.29 seconds in the 55 meters at the Millrose Trials, will return to The Armory to face upgraded competition in the high school 60-meter dash. Terrell Robinson Jr. of Mount Tabor NC is the national leader for 55 meters at 6.27 seconds. Nyckoles Harbor from Archbishop Carroll DC is US#7 at 6.33. The girls dash lineup is no less impressive, with Kaila Jackson of Detroit Renaissance MI, Kaniya Johnson from Loundes GA and Avery Lewis from Run U Xpress Club of North Carolina leading the way. Trevin Moyer of Mt. Holly NC and Shamali Whittle of Hamilton North-Nottingham NJ lead the entries in the boys 300 meters. Moyer is US#3 at 33.79 and Whittle moved up to US#4 after running 34.23 at the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Showcase on Saturday. Kayla Davis from Run U Xpress NC, already No. 5 on the all-time list, is the top entrant in the girls 300. U.S. leader Victoria Vidolova of the Chelsea Greyhounds Club NY tops the entries in the girls 600 after running her best time of 1:33.79 at the Marine Corps Holiday Classic on Dec. 29. She'll face Analisse Batista of Huntington NY, who ran US#2 1:35.05 on Sunday at the Stanner Games. The junior girls pole vault competition features a national high school record watch as twin sisters Hana Moll and Amanda Moll from Capital High in Olympia, Wash. make their way to New York City representing Northwest Pole Vault Club after strong showings last weekend at the UCS Spirit National Pole Vault Summit in Reno, Nev. Hana Moll cleared 14-8 to get within an inch of the high school indoor record and Amanda cleared 14-2, the first time two prep female athletes had both cleared that height in the same indoor competition.
