Viewers Guide For All The Best Stuff From Two National High School Indoor Championships

Breaking Down The Time Schedules For NBNI and NIN

Yes, there are two national high school indoor championships this weekend. Both in the same city as well. 

If you are not making the trip to New York but want to monitor the best of the action from both Ocean Breeze and The Armory, and don't want to miss a national record, here's a handy guide for those willing to toggle back and forth between the two live webcasts. 

These times are for events on the track only. Pinning down the best times to catch the final flights of championship field events is tricky. 

This is the can't-miss stuff.

Friday (All Times Eastern)

New Balance Nationals Indoor start time - 9:30 a.m. 

Nike Indoor Nationals start time - 10 a.m.

NIN Girls Shuttle Hurdles - 2:10 p.m. - Keep an eye on Motor City TC out of Michigan. This team has its eyes set on the national record and will possibly take two attempts over the weekend. 

NBNI Boys 2-mile fastest section - 2:30 p.m. - The Heat 5 race will be a good one, with Gavin Sherry, Riley Hough, Jackson Barna, James Donahue, Getachew Hayes, Aidan Puffer and Newbury Park's Dev Doshi in the field. 

NBNI Girls 2-mile fastest section - 3:40 p.m. - Natalie Cook and Angelina Perez, the top two runners at the Eastbay Cross Country final, are in a field with Ellie Shea, Karrie Baloga, Ciara O'Shea and Lauren Pansegrau.

NIN Girls 4xMile Relay - 4:30 p.m. - Saratoga Springs takes aim at the 2005 national high school record and has the lineup back that broke the outdoor record last June in Eugene. 

NIN Mixed Girls/Boys 4x400 - 6:30 p.m. - A new event relative to the others but it's always fascinating to see the boys and girls working together and the strategies empoyed by coaches to fit suit their athletes. 

NBNI Boys SMR fastest section - 6:55 p.m. - The national leaderboard figures to be completely re-written for this event this weekend.

NBNI Girls SMR fastest section - 7:15 p.m. - Motor City TC of Michigan and Bullis MD tangle for the first time in what should be an entertaining race.

NBNI Boys DMR fastest section - 7:38 p.m. - Union Catholic has intentions to challenge the national record and some other good teams could keep the Vikings company. 

NBNI Girls DMR fastest section - 8:08 p.m. - Purple Track Club from Ann Arbor MI has already run the fastest non-all-star DMR in high school history. Union Catholic is among the teams who'd like to have a shot to keep up. 

 

Saturday 

New Balance Nationals Indoor start time - 8:30 a.m.

Nike Indoor Nationals start time - 9 a.m.

NBNI Girls Shuttle Hurdles 11:15 a.m. - If Motor City hasn't got the record already, it will be trying again.

NBNI Boys 5,000 - 2:30 p.m. - Ethan Coleman, Peter Baracco, Krishna Thirunavukkarasu and Michael Toppi from Florida are four to watch in this one. 

NBNI Girls 5,000 - 2:50 p.m. - Jenna Mulhern, Ellie Shea and Emily Toth-Ratazzi should be among the leaders.

NBNI Boys 400 final - 3:57 p.m. - Justin Braun of Westerville OH is the top seed.

NBNI Girls 400 final 4:05 p.m. - Julia Jackson leads a competitive field that also includes Sophia Gorriaran.

NIN Girls 2-mile - 4:28 p.m. - Ellie Shea is listed, and so is Zariel Macchia, Hannah Kaercher, Nelah Roberts and Rachel St. Germain

NBNI Boys 4xMile fastest section - 4:40 p.m. - Viewership will no doubt spike for this one. Newbury Park will go for the national record and they may strip more than half a minute off it. 

NIN Boys 60 hurdles final - 5:04 p.m. - Top entries included Gregory Foster, Jadyn Marshall and Easton Tan.

NIN Girls 60 dash final - 5:12 p.m. - Texan Autumn Wilson takes on a deep field.

NIN Boys 60 dash final - 5:20 p.m. - Jordan Anthony of Tylertown, Miss. is entered in both meets.

NIN Girls 400 final - 5:28 p.m. - This one feels wide open, but there is lots of talent in this event.

NBNI Girls 4xMile fastest section - 5:35 p.m. - Purple Track Club of Michigan is among the teams seeking multiple relay titles this weekend.

NIN Boys 400 final - 5:36 p.m. - Will Sumner is attempting a double and will run the 200 an hour later.

NIN Girls Mile final - 5:52 p.m. - Addison Wiley is the reigning outdoor champion in the mile.

NIN Boys Mile final - 6:04 p.m. - Wes Shipsey from Oregon and Luke Thompson from Tennesee are two to watch. 

NIN Girls 800 final - 6:14 p.m. - Addison Wiley is entered but it'd be a difficult double; Micah Trusty or Lauren Tolbert could be line to contend.

NIN Boys 800 final - 6:24 p.m. - Dylan Christian and Nick Plant, both of Ohio, are the favorites. Hometown hero Michael Rodriguez-King from Staten Island is one to watch as well. 

NIN Girls 200 final - 6:29 p.m. - Autumn Wilson is back, but Mia Brahe-Pedersen and Kennedi Sanders should factor in. 

NIN Boys 200 final - 6:33 p.m.  - Will Sumner can put his stamp on a successful day, but the competition in this one is stout.

NIN Girls DMR final - 6:37 p.m. - Saratoga Springs returns looking for more. 

NBNI Boys 4x200 final - 6:43 p.m. - Cathedral Phantoms from California look to make some noise.

NBNI Girls 4x200 final - 6:51 p.m. - St. John's College of D.C. is the top seed.

NIN Girls 4x400 final - 7:22 p.m. - Most of the top 4x200 teams are doubling back.

NIN Boys 4x400 final - 7:32 p.m. - Cathedral Phantoms hope to be in line to double. 

 

Sunday 

New Balance Nationals Indoor start time - 8 a.m.

Nike Indoor Nationals start time - 8 a.m.

Note: NBNI has its final day loaded with championship finals; NIN's day is filled with Emerging Elite competition

NBNI Boys 800 fastest section - 9:40 - The Sahlman brothers will test the wheels.

NBNI Girls 800 fastest section - 9:55 - Roisin Willis and Sophia Gorriaran chase the 2-minute barrier.

NBNI Boys 200 final - 11:59 - A loaded lineup will match most of the country's top sprinters.

NBNI Girls 200 final - 12:05 - Shawnti Jackson could make even more history.

NBNI Boys Mile fastest section - 12:19 - A deep field could approach four minutes. 

NBNI Girls Mile fastest section - 12:35 - Juliette Whittaker tests freshman Sadie Engelhardt.

NBNI Boys 60 hurdles final - 12:43 - Andre Korbmacher from Washington seeks to hold onto US#1.

NBNI Girls 60 hurdles final - 12:47 - Motor City's Nonah Waldron looks to capture individual title.

NBNI Boys 60 dash final - 12:51 - Justin Braun, Terrell Robinson Jr, Jordan Anthony and Carter Cukerstein are on the startlist.

NBNI Girls 60 dash final - 12:55 - Shawnti Jackson chases her own national high school record.

NBNI Boys 4x800 fastest section - 2:28 p.m.  - Union Catholic NJ looks for additional glory.

NBNI Girls 4x800 fastest section - 3:00 p.m.  - Purple Track Club could be in line for a three-event sweep.

NBNI Boys 4x400 fastest section - 3:44 p.m.  - Bullis always covets this one. 

NBNI Girls 4x400 fastest section - 4:04 p.m. - Motor City and Bullis take on Florida speed (South Dade)
