Indiana State Champion Crushes High School Record In 1,600m With 4:26.16 By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Addy Wiley of Huntington North IN became the first girl in prep history to run under 4:30 for 1,600 meters and her mile equivalent was also well under the barrier. Wiley ran 4:26.16 at a meet at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. She was paced by 2015 World Championships qualifier Lauren Johnson and then won the race by 28 seconds, reported David Woods of the Indy Star. Her converted mile time of 4:27.71 is superior to the 4:28.35 run by Mary Cain indoors in 2013 and also the 4:33.87 run by Katelyn Tuohy at New Balance Nationals Outdoor in 2018. Wiley had a previous 1,600-meter PR of 4:37.98. She ran 2:04.40 in the 800 meters at the 2021 Brooks PR Invitational. More news |
