Less than a month after rolling to a national title in cross country, Cornwall Central NY senior Karrie Baloga showed her fitness with an impressive 9:25.64 effort in the 3,000 meters Saturday at The Armory Hispanic Games in New York City.

Baloga's performance was one of many Friday and Saturday that helped to populate the new season's national high school rankings.

Her time was six seconds faster than her previous PR, set last year outdoors at the Penn Relays. It moved her to No. 21 in prep history and she became the fifth-fastest New Yorker. It is the second-fastest performance in the country this season, behind the 9:10.85 of Ellie Shea last month in Boston.

Another Champs Sports Cross Country finalist, Zariel Macchia from William Floyd NY, won the girls invitational mile in US#4 4:56.66.

The massive meet included 440 boys competing in the mile, for instance, across 23 sections.

None was faster than Antonio Camacho-Bucks of Centennial MD, who ran US#3 4:12.52 to win the invitational section and earn a berth in the Millrose Games High School mile. His teammate, Sebastian Martinez, was second in US#4 4:13.38.

Jake Gogarty from Bay Shore NY won the boys 2-mile in 9:29.36 for US#5.

Avery Lewis from Friends' Central PA won two events. She won the 400 meters in 56.35 and ame back to win the 55 meters, despite an early slip, in 7:04 seconds.

Jaylin Santiago from Fordham Prep NY won the boys invitational 400 meters in US#3 48.70 seconds.

Joshua Huisman of St. Rose NJ, already with a 60-foot mark this season, won the boys shot put competition by seven feet with 55-5.

Xavier Donaldson from Seton Hall Prep NJ won the boys 200 meters in US#4 21.93 seconds.

Bryce Tucker from Pennsauken NJ won the boys 55-meter hurdles in US#5 7.56 seconds. He was also part of a winning 4x200 relay.

Elmont Memorial's Ashley Fulton won the girls 200 meters in US#5 24.60.

Alexandra Bonn from Union Catholic NJ won the girls triple jump with a US#7 38-8.
