Keeghan Edwards Comes Down From Colorado To Win Girls 3,000 In Seattle By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor John Decker photo Jack Henzke and Keeghan Edwards showed off their mid-winter fitness during Saturday's first day of the University of Washington High School Invitational. Henzke, running unattached (Seattle Prep WA), a Nike Cross Nationals qualifier, outlasted Asher Danielson (unattached/Ida B. Wells OR), to win in US#6 8:21.19. Danielson was next in US#7 8:21.43. Hayden Boaz (unattached/Summit OR) was third in US#8 8:23.46 and Malachi Schoenherr of the Sheldon TF Project was fourth in US#9 8:24.66. The top six ran faster than Joe Waskom's 2018 meet record. Edwards, a sophomore at Mountain Vista CO running for Kokopelli Kids, won the girls race in a US#7 time of 9:41.76. Adrianna Buitelaar from VRTC Distance of British Columbia was second in 9:50.67 and Elektra Higgins (unattached/Peninsula) was third in 9:51.13. All three ran under the previous meet record. Jordan Lasher (unattached/Yelm WA) won the boys pole vault with a clearance of 15-7. Catherine Phillips of the Inner Circle Track Club (Mountainside OR) won the girls high jump with 5-7. Marissa Johnson of SuperThrower Track Club (Tigard OR), already No. 2 in the nation, won the girls weight throw with 52-1. Calvin Gutierrez of Seattle Masters Athletic (Mariner WA) won the boys weight throw with 61-2. More news |
