How do the rankings shake out before teams take to Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon?
Here is the newest edition of the 2024 NCAA DI Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Rating Index, which was released on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). No marks from previous seasons are being used in this objective calculation.

Arkansas, which won a second consecutive indoor crown in March, is No. 1 outdoors for the first time this year after five straight weeks at No. 2. The Razorbacks have won this meet twice – most recently in 2019 when they completed an indoor/outdoor sweep – and have 18 entries to TrackTown. Twelve of those are top-10 with three national leaders: Nickisha Pryce in the 400 (49.32), Rachel Glenn in the 400-meter hurdles (53.94) and the 4×400 relay team (3:21.92).
LSU is No. 2 after six weeks at No. 1. The Tigers – in the top-2 all 10 weeks – won the most recent of their record 14 titles in 2008, and their highest finish since then is third in 2019. LSU leads the list arriving in Eugene with 22 entries, with 12 top-10 marks led by national 800 leader Michaela Rose (1:58.37).
No. 3 is a season-high for defending champion Texas. The Longhorns have 15 entries to the NCAA Championships, with ten top-10 marks – two rating No. 1 courtesy of Ackelia Smith in the long jump (7.10mw/23-3½w) and triple jump (14.31mw/46-11½w).
Host Oregon is No. 4 after four straight weeks at No. 3. The Ducks last won this meet in 2017 and were fourth last year. They have 14 entries in the meet, with ten rating in the top-10 and two leading the country: Jadyn Mays in the 100 (10.83w) and Jaida Ross in the shot put (a 20.01m/65-7¾ CR).
Florida is up one spot to No. 5, their highest of the year. The Gators – runner-up last year after winning their only title in 2022 – have 12 entries. Eight of those are in the top-10 with two leading the nation: Parker Valby in the 10,000 (a CR 30:50.43) and Alida van Daalen in the discus (66.31m/217-7).
Completing the top-10 teams in the National TFRI are No. 6 Texas A&M, No. 7 Georgia, No. 8 Texas Tech, No. 9 Southern California and No. 10 Ole Miss.
