Lisa and Xenia Raye Spectacular For West Warwick At Rhode Island State Meet By Mary Albl of DyeStat A year after winning the program’s first state title, the West Warwick girls were out to do it again. Saturday at the Rhode Island State Track and Field Outdoor Championships at Conley Stadium, Led by sisters Lisa and Xenia Raye, West Warwick tallied 76 to win the girls state title for the second year in a row. Lisa Raye headlined the meet with not only four individual wins, but three meet records. A sophomore, Lisa won the 100 (11.37), 100 hurdles (14.06) and 300 hurdles (42.53) all state and meet records. She also won the 200 title as well, clocking 22.73w for the fifth-fastest wind-aided performance in history. Her time in the 100 is currently U.S. #8. Sister Xenia Raye, a junior, won the 400 in a meet record time of 54.73. She was second in the 100 and 200. In the field, junior Adelaide Caron of Woonsocket won the hammer with a U.S. #1 mark of 176-8. On the boys side, Barrington’s Ethan Knights’ victories in the 110 hurdles (14.31) and 300 hurdles (38.40), along with teammate Patrick Trainor’s win in the long jump (22-3) propelled the team to a state title with 120 points. On the track, senior Elias Sposato of Chariho Regional won the 200 (21.44) and 400 (47.85).
