Friday's Action Sets Up Another Full Slate Of Races Today Under The Lights By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Landon Pretre from Menlo CA set the standard to beat for the rest of the schedule at the Woodbridge Cross Country Classic presented by ASICS on Friday. The senior, who has run a Friday race at Woodbridge three of his four years in the meet, ran a time of 14:16.7 to win the Varsity White A race (No. 21). There are 52 races at Woodbridge and the final 28 of them start this afternoon in Irvine, Calif. Pretre, of course, is one of the elite athletes in the meet. He ran 8:50 in the 3,200 meters last spring for seventh place in the California state track and field championships. He finished 10 seconds ahead of Ryan Fitzpatrick of Nueva CA and led Menlo to a team win. Ally Wheeler of Natrona County of Wyoming was the only girl to dip under 17 minutes on the first day at Woodbridge. Wheeler ran a time of 16:58.2 in the Varsity Red A race and also led her team to victory. She beat Serenity Fausto of Santa Fe CA, who was next in 17:07.5. More news |
