Tamrat Gavenas, Charlie Vause Land At 1-2 Following National Title Wins To Highlight Final Cross Country Individual Rankings Of Season

Tamrat Gavenas continued the Northeast's run of success at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships, Charlie Vause gave the Nike Cross Regional Southwest another surprising winner at Nike Cross Nationals and the two national champions land the top two spots of DyeStat's final individual cross country rankings of the 2024 season.

Gavenas, who announced recently that he will head to Harvard next fall to run for coach Alex Gibby, completed his high school cross country career win a redeeming win at Foot Locker in San Diego on Dec. 14, taking the boys championship race in 15 minutes, 23.9 seconds after finishing third the year before. 

Vause, who narrowly missed the New Mexico state title and finished third at Nike Cross Regional Southwest, came through late in the boys championship race at Glendoveer Golf Course on Dec. 7 to take the NXN individual title in 15:28.1.

TJ Hansen and Caden Leonard finished just behind Vause in second and third, respectively, at Nike Cross Nationals, earning top-five honors in the end-of-the-season rankings.

Juan Gonzalez earned All-American honors at both Nike Cross Nationals and Foot Locker, finishing 13th in Portland and runner-up in San Diego to round of the top five individuals on this list.

With these top five, along with another 95 individuals, the entire group makes up the top 100 rankings based on national championship and in-season performances.
