Hansen Hangs On For Three Second Win Over Graffeo; Keeghan Edwards, Sophia McInnes Sprint To Victories; Jake Odey-Jordan Sweeps Boys 60, 200 By Keenan Gray of DyeStat Adam Parshall photos BOSTON – Future Colorado Buffaloes teammates TJ Hansen and Jack Graffeo battled wire-to-wire in the High Voltage boys 2-mile to finish first and second Friday night at the TRACK at New Balance in Boston. Hansen of Freeland MI opened up a three-second lead over Graffeo of Westford Academy MA over the last 800 meters to come away with the win in 8 minutes, 10.24 seconds for a lifetime best. Graffeo, who ran 5,000 meters last weekend at the Boston University Valentine Invitational indoor track in 14:06.49, clocked 8:13.24. Aiden Monistere of Parkview Baptist LA ran 8:22.47 for third, Brennan McEwen of Franklin OR ran 8:31.36 for fourth and Wil Ihmels of Century ND ran 8:46.57. Keeghan Edwards of Mountain Vista CO ran down Zariel Macchia of William Floyd NY in the final 50 meters to take the High Voltage girls 3,000 meters by a margin of 9:31.69 to 9:31.73, good for US#5 and 6. Mackenzie Skelly, an eighth-grader from Glenside, Penn., ran 9:37.69 and broke the indoor middle school national record that was held by Sophia Rodriguez, who ran 9:39.42 in 2023. Ava Jarrell of Pendleton Heights IN finished fourth in 10:12.91 and Ruby Ihmels of Century ND finished fifth in 10:34.80. Sophia McInnes of Bayport Blue Point NY closed her final 200 meters in 32.23 seconds to take the High Voltage girls mile in 4:47.26, holding off three other girls by 1.5 seconds. Elin Latta of South Texas Heat Homeschool, third in the High Voltage Girls Two-Mile at The CIRCUIT Chicago, finished second in 4:48.83, Libby Castelli of O’Gorman SD earned third in 4:48.95 and Mia Sirois of Barrington took fourth in 4:49.24. Jake Odey-Jordan of Archbishop Carroll DC swept the boys 60 meters and 200 meters, running 6.76 and 21.44, respectively. More news |
