Florida State Meet Recap 2025Published by
Florida Stars Shine Bright at the 2025 FHSAA Track and Field Championships By Todd Grasley for DyeStat The 2025 FHSAA Track and Field Championships tested much more than physical ability. Florida’s top high school athletes had to overcome shifting schedules, weather delays, and the pressure of competing on the state's biggest stage. When it mattered most, they delivered in spectacular fashion. After Friday storms pushed the entire Class 3A meet to Saturday and morning thunderstorms delayed Saturday’s start by two hours, the stage was set for a full day of action across three classifications. Once the skies cleared, the athletes took over and made history. Tyra Cox Shines Brightest in Class 3A Miami Northwestern senior Tyra Cox delivered one of the most electrifying performances in FHSAA history. She added three more state titles to her resume and broke two state meet records along the way. The future Florida Gator won the 200 meters in 22.99 and followed that up with a blistering 400 meters in 51.44. That time is not only the fastest in the United States this year but also a new meet record and the second fastest time in Florida history behind Olympic gold medalist Sanya Richards-Ross. It's also No. 12 all-time. Cox’s 200 meter time also ranks among the top three in the country. Cox anchored Northwestern’s 4x400 meter relay team to a state meet record of 3:38.99, breaking Montverde Academy’s previous mark of 3:40.75. She also placed third in the 100 meters to help her team in the battle for the championship. Despite her dominance, it was Dillard that edged out Miami Northwestern for the Class 3A girls team title for the second year in a row. Chelsi Williams Ends High School Career with Triple Gold George Jenkins standout Chelsi Williams capped off her high school career in style. Williams won the 100-meter hurdles in 13.38 and captured field titles in the long jump at 20-3 and the triple jump at 41-0.50.
