Parker Wolfe's Atlantic Coast Conference legacy grew a bit more Thursday night at Kentner Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The North Carolina senior used a 57.25 second final lap to pull away from Stanford's Lex Young in the men's 10,000 meters in a personal best 28 minutes, 51.09 seconds, earning his second consecutive ACC title in the event on day one of the three-day championship event hosted by Wake Forest.

Wolfe brought his career total to six ACC titles: five in track and one in cross country.

Wolfe aims to complete the 10,000/5,000 double for the second consecutive year on Saturday. Last year he won both in Atlanta.

Young finished four seconds behind Wolfe in 28:55.29 for second and Notre Dame's Ethan Coleman ran 28:59.86 for third, putting three runners under 29 minutes.

Virginia's Jenny Schilling secured the women's 10,000 title in 33:22.34, holding off Notre Dame's Emily Covert in 33:30.18 over the final 800 meters.

Miami's Devoux Deysel threw a personal best and NCAA-leading mark of 82.35 meters (270-2) to win the men's javelin title by almost 15 meters. Duke's Scott Campbell was second, throwing 67.75m (222-3).

Duke's Christian Toro used a third-round throw of 68.35m (224-3) to take the men's hammer title.

California's Giavonna Meeks led four Golden Bears in the top six of the women's hammer competition, throwing a personal best 67.86m (222-8) for the win. Teammate Valentina Savva was a close second, throwing 67.63m (221-10).

Virginia Tech's Lyndsey Reed and Louisville's Ashley Callahan both cleared personal best heights of 4.42m (14-6) in the women's pole vault, with Reed taking the title on fewer missed attempts.

Notre Dame's Jadin O'Brien leads all heptathlon competitors after day one with 3,708 points. Louisville's Kenneth Byrd leads the decathlon with 4,209 points.

In preliminary track action, North Carolina's Ethan Strand eased through the men's 1,500 in 3:40.02 to take the fastest time into finals.

North Carolina State's Kate Putman ran a personal best 4:14.86 to lead qualifiers in the women's 1,500.

Virginia's Alex Sherman managed a personal best 50.32 to lead all men's qualifiers in the 400 hurdles.

Florida State's Tyra Wilson clocked the fastest time in the women's 400 hurdles, running 55.73.

Clemson's Jalen Johnson won his heat of the men's 200 in 20.61 to take the fastest time into finals.

Duke freshman Braelyn Baker led all qualifiers in the women's 200, running a personal best 23.02.
