Lauren Ping 1st Place Girls Division 1-2 Team Sweepstakes Race - Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational 2019

Desert Vista AZ freshman Lauren Ping clocked 16:47.6 on the 2.93-mile course to win the girls Division 1-2 team sweepstakes race at the 72nd Mt. SAC Invitational in Walnut, Calif. Ping broke the Arizona all-time girls record at Mt. SAC, taking down the mark of 17:01 set in 2005 by Kari Hardt of Queen Creek. Ping also became the first freshman since Simi Valley's Sarah Baxter in 2010 to win the Division 1-2 team sweepstakes race. Only Baxter's 16:41 effort in 2010 at Mt. SAC is faster among ninth-graders than Ping.
