Andreas Gustafsson, 38, won the men's 50-kilometer race walk in 4:12.11 at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Santee, Calif. Although Gustafsson, a former member of the Swedish national team who earned the opportunity to represent the U.S. last year, didn't meet the Olympic standard of 3:50.00, he is currently the top American on the global descending order list and needs to be among the top 60 in the world, based on only three athletes per country, when the qualification period ends May 31, in order to secure his berth to compete at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
