Westlake CA junior Paige Sommers won the women's elite division with a third-attempt clearance at 14 feet (4.27m) to set a women's facilty record at the Vaulter Club Vaulter Magazine Big Red Barn Meet in Menifee, Calif. Sommers hadn't competed since clearing 13-6 (4.11m) on March 6 at the Don Green Invitational at Moorpark High. It marked her second career 14-foot clearance, including the state and national junior class record 14-6 (4.41m) on Feb. 22 at the Thousand Oaks Invitational. Sommers also took three attempts at a national high school outdoor record 14-8.50 (4.48m).
