With under a week to go before the start of cross country season in New Mexico, Albuquerque Academy coach Adam Kedge and a few of his runners discuss how the mandatory wearing of masks during races will shape things. Unlike Colorado and Michigan, wear rules require athletes to wear masks at the starting line and the finish line, in New Mexico they will be required for the entire race, plus before and after. The masks will add a burden to runners competing at altitudes above 5,000 feet. Some runners will be excused from wearing facial coverings with a doctor's note.
