Andrew Bumbalough joins DyeStat editor Doug Binder to discuss the end of his 10-year professional running career with the Nike Bowerman Track Club and coach Jerry Schumacher. Bumbalough has spent time during the pandemic plotting out a career change and has begun to work on shoe development projects with Nike as well as formulate a new personalized coaching venture called HighGear Running. Bumbalough traces his running career to its early beginnings in Brentwood, Tenn. and talks about how his professional years broke into two eras -- a competitive 5,000-meter focus that saw him consistently among the top five in the U.S., and then a roads and marathon segment that included a fifth-place finish in Boston in 2018.
