Sadie Engelhardt, an eighth-grader at Cabrillo Middle School in Ventura, Calif., placed second in the girls prep mile in a lifetime-best 4:46.25 at the Sound Running Track Meet in Irvine, Calif. Engelhardt ran the fastest mile by an eighth-grader since the turn of the century, eclipsing the 2002 mark of 4:50.15 achieved by former Saratoga Springs High of New York and Royal of California standout Nicole Blood.
