The four members of the Purple Track Club's distance relay -- Sarah and Rachel Forsyth, Cookie Baugh and Emily Cooper -- join DyeStat editor Doug Binder to talk about their amazing indoor season. The group, from Ann Arbor Pioneer High, ran the fastest high school DMR of all-time when it ran 11:21.95 at the MITS Distance Festival at Grand Valley State on Feb. 12. That's faster than the outdoor national record held by Harvard-Westlake CA since 2011 (11:22.23). It was more than 12 seconds faster than any team has run indoors. Rachel Forsyth also ran a US#1 3,200 on Saturday, clocking 10:02.12 on Saturday at MITS Meet No. 5. Three members of the team, the Forsyth sisters and Baugh, were prepared to comepte for national relay titles in 2020 with Foot Locker national champion Zofia Dudek, their teammate, when the meet was canceled. Two years, later, even without Dudek, the team is even faster. The Purple Track Club plans to participate at New Balance Nationals Indoor in the 4xMile, Distance Medley Relay and 4x800 relay at The Armory, March 11-13.
