Cheyla Scott, a junior at Butler High in North Carolina, tied for second place in the girls high jump championship with a third-attempt clearance at 5-10.50 (1.79m) at Nike Outdoor Nationals at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Scott, last year's champion, cleared the same height as JaiCieonna Gero-Holt of Emerald Ridge High in Washington and Emma Gates of Cascade High in Oregon, but took third overall based on third-attempt clearances at both 5-8.50 (1.74m) and 5-10.50.
