Somto Igwilo, a 13-year-old athlete representing Major Impact Track and Dickerson Middle School in Georgia, won the girls 13-14 long jump title with a lifetime-best wind-legal 19-5.25 (5.92m) performance in the sixth round at the USATF National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships at Hornet Stadium at Sacramento State. Igwilo, entering eighth grade, entered the meet with a personal-best 18-6 (5.63m) effort. She also advanced to both the 100-meter final and 200-meter championship, running 12.05 and 24.95 in hr respective semifinals.
