Athanas Kioko, a Kenyan athlete and an assistant coach at Wake Forest representing Fast Break Athletics in Chattanooga, Tenn., took third in the men's World section of the 10,000 meters in a lifetime-best 27:23.84 at The Ten, sponsored by Sound Running and presented by On Running, at JSerra High in San Juan Capistrano, Calif. Kioko was only scheduled to pace the race to the midway point, but then decided to complete the entire 25-lap competition.
