Meagan Humphries, a junior at Castaic High in California, tied for third place in the girls team competition with 25 points after producing four top-five finishes at the CIF State Championships at Buchanan High's Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis. Humphries secured second in the long jump with a wind-legal mark of 20-3.25 (6.17m) in the sixth round, in addition to placing runner-up in the triple jump with a wind-aided effort of 40-6.25 (12.35m) in the final round. She also placed fourth in the high jump final with a second-attempt clearance at 5-8 (1.72m) and finished fifth in the 200-meter final in a wind-legal 24.02 seconds.
